CEO Summit: The 4th annual iNovia Capital CEO Summit took place on June 10th in Menlo Park. Filled with impactful presentations, panels and fireside chats, this exclusive event was for founders and CEOs of the iNovia portfolio.2015

AGM: This year we hosted our CEO Summit and the iNovia Annual General Meeting back-to-back. The AGM is took place on June 11th and painted a picture of iNovia’s current performance and the larger venture capital industry. Limited Partners, portfolio companies and other key stakeholders were selectively invited to the AGM.

Hitting Milestones

iNovia strives to be our “Founders’ most trusted & accessible partner from early stage to exit”. This motivates us to go out-of-our-way in partnering with the best entrepreneurs, and supporting them from investment to exit. Our team is made of founders, builders and engineers who have helped scale great businesses. We continuously try to leverage these experiences, skills and networks to help accelerate the growth of our portfolio of market-leading technology companies.

We dedicate our time, energy and capital to build relationships with entrepreneurs that are solving large problems in valuable markets. Our success is first and foremost driven through the success of these portfolio founders and entrepreneurs. While managing a core portfolio of 37 active companies and another 6 emerging seed stage companies, we are humbled every day by their tenacity, determination and accomplishments. The opportunity to work with such an inspirational group of founders is what motivates us to excel. We’re grateful to our LPs, advisors and friends who provide the foundation that empowers the iNovia team to do what we love even better.

This year’s CEO Summit and AGM are about “Hitting Milestones”,  which includes providing insights, learnings and best practices around scaling a business, managing exit opportunities, maximizing returns and forming lasting relationships. My hope for today is that you also get involved and share your own valuable experiences. We have found that these shared experiences ultimately form the foundation for valuable new relationships. Relationships are core to iNovia and allow us to always reach our next important milestones. Ajay Royan cofounded Mithril and has led investments in innovative companies located both in Silicon Valley and around the world. Before forming Mithril, Ajay was a managing director and senior investor at Clarium Capital Management, where he led the firm’s unlevered growth investments and was a member of the core team that grew it into a multi-billion dollar fund.

Since 1981, Dan Freedman has founded, grown, financed, bought, and sold software companies, primarily in the networking and security sectors. Freedman served as Vice-President of Security Products at anti-virus giant McAfee Corporation (now part of Intel) in the 1990’s, and has established successful companies in the networking, security, financing, and Internet Telephony spaces. Today, Freedman’s leadership roles are in advising high-growth management teams. Born in the UK but raised in Canada, today Freedman lives in California, where he balances business with the pleasures of family life, and is an avid pilot, yachtsman, pianist, and mentor.

Prior to founding Chango, Chris founded or co-founded multiple tech startups in the digital media and online publishing industries. Chris is based in Toronto and is a speaker at SES, SMX, CIX, Mesh and other technology conferences.

Larry was also Founder and Chairman and CEO of a full service marketing and advertising agency that included clients such as American Express, Maple Leaf sports and entertainment, Disney, Pan Am Toronto 2015 Games and Dynamic Funds. Larry graduated many years ago from York University and recently returned to University of Toronto School of Business for Corporate Governance in conjunction with the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Brian Heath is co-founder and CEO of Intelligent Imaging Systems (IIS) and Drivewyze. IIS / Drivewyze is the leader in electronic screening systems for commercial vehicle enforcement, and is in the development of Commercial Mobile Radio Service (CMRS) transponder technology. This GPS and web-enabled technology represents a seismic shift away from traditional transportation technologies, and has enabled Drivewyze to build the largest weigh station bypass service network in North America. Brian is a member of the Board of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Canada and the Leadership Circle of ITS America.
